Lynn Hackworth Artis, 34, of Cedar Grove died Sept. 15, 2007, of injuries received in an automobile accident with her son, Tyler James Artis. Born Aug. 25, 1973, she was a graduate of Dupont High School and an honors graduate of NIT, Cross Lanes, as a pharmacy technician.

Jody was a loving mother of two wonderful children, a devoted daughter and a caring sister.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glen and Tressie Arthur and Jodie and Reba Hackworth. Her son, Tyler James Artis, "one of God's special children," passed away with his mother.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Kyley Marie Hackworth; mother, Kathryn Hackworth of Elkview; father and stepmother, John and Rita Hackworth of Cabin Creek; brother and his wife, Scott and Natalie Hackworth of Riverside; an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend, Frank Newsom, who was there for her through everything.

A service to honor the life of Jody Lynn will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at B.C. Hooper, Bostic & Layne Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Tyler James Artis, 10, of Cedar Grove died Sept. 15, 2007, of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born July 2, 1997, he attended fifth grade at Cedar Grove Community School, where his teacher was Alma Richards.

The words he used to Nanny, when she asked about his teacher, were, "I really like her." His mother, Jody Lynn Hackworth, passed away with him in the accident.

He is survived by his father, Daniel Artis Jr. of Hollywood, Fla.; sister, Kyley Marie Hackworth; maternal grandparents, Kathryn Hackworth of Elkview and John Hackworth of Cabin Creek; and paternal grandparents, Dan and Sally Artis of Waverly, Tenn.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and classmates.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at B.C. Hooper, Bostic & Layne Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
